Immerse yourself in the magic of Romania’s rich heritage and intriguing history on a Romania cultural holiday. This eastern European nation has gone through many changes throughout the years, and maintains a unique character today as a result. Over the course of its history, Romania has been subject to multiple invasions and occupations - most notably by the Romans and then again later by Slavic peoples. Traces of these cultures can still be seen in buildings built during those periods and in Romanian cuisine. The country is also home to some of Europe's most dramatic wilderness landscapes, including the Transylvanian Alps,
the Carpathian Mountains and the Danube Delta. From pristine mountain lakes to ancient castles and churches, Romania cultural holidays have so much to offer. Take in the fresh air as you traverse rugged mountains, forests and winding rivers with a local guide and learn about traditional crafts that have been preserved for generations – all the while keeping an eye out for bears, wolves and lynxes that hide in the dark corners of the forest. Be sure to pay a visit to Romania’s thriving capital city – Bucharest, where you can experience its rich heritage first-hand and marvel at the art nouveau architecture, and to the region of Transylvania, where time appears to have stood still for centuries and where the legend of Dracula lives on.

The holiday was great. The Inn on Balaban was a wonderful start to the break, with lovely rooms and views to die for. Excellent guided tour of Bran Castle. Sighisoara citadel was beautiful as was Miklosvar - very relaxing and our Szeckler guide was very eager to show us his part of Transylvania. Our room in the annex there was wonderful. Dinner in the cellar after the cows were seen home was very pleasant too. Zalanpatak has the most spectacular setting. Our last day was spent on a horse and cart trip up into the hills and a delicious BBQ lunch in a spectacular flower meadow. All in all, amazing forests, views, vistas and flower meadows; very relaxing environment and slow pace. Thank you!
