Carara National Park is a protected area in the Central Pacific Conservation Area of Costa Rica, to the west of the capital, San Jose. The park is best known for its diverse wildlife and unique ecosystem, which is characterised by the transition zone between the tropical dry forests of the north and the humid rainforests of the south. One of the main attractions of Carara National Park is its birdwatching opportunities, as the park is home to hundreds of species of birds, including the scarlet macaw, a rare and endangered species that can sometimes be seen flying through the park’s canopy. The park is also home to an array of other wildlife,
including monkeys, sloths, anteaters and reptiles such as iguanas and snakes. The park’s hiking trails offer the perfect opportunity to observe these animals in their natural habitat, and the park’s suspension bridge offers far-reaching views of the surrounding rainforest canopy. With its biodiversity and numerous trails, Carara National Park offers travellers a chance to connect with nature and appreciate the wonders of the Central American rainforest.
