Escape to Oslo

Nestled between fjords and forests, Oslo combines contemporary architecture with Scandinavian spirit. Norway’s capital is a quiet but trendy oasis and a big hit with art afficionados with an extensive collection of galleries and museums. With a mixture of urban downtown, countryside and sea, the Norwegian capital is home to modern buildings as well as picturesque villages and islands nestled deep in the pine and larch forests.

To take full advantage of this city trip, we have arranged a few highlights, starting with a few hours with an Oslo resident for a special tour of the city. You'll also have access to the hotel spa and an Oslo Pass offering unlimited public transport and access to outdoor swimming pools, as well as discounts for some museums, restaurants, tours and shops.

One of our favourite things to do is gorge on a seafood dinner on the island of Herban, which is only accessible by ferry.

Your Hotel

Just a short walk from the port of Oslo, the thriving district of Tjuvholmen is home to a plethora of trendy galleries, restaurants and shops and sleek, modern buildings designed by the biggest names in Scandinavian architecture. Your hotel faces the Astrup Fearnley Museum of Modern Art, which has provided some artwork to the hotel, and each guest will receive an admission ticket to the museum. The hotel was designed to feel like a cocoon of warm colours and sumptuous materials as well as being home to an amazing spa. Enjoy a lovingly prepared breakfast and brunch at the weekend and sip cocktails at the bar and on the rooftop terrace in the last glows of daylight.

WITH A FEW EXTRA DAYS - BERGEN, THE GATEWAY TO THE FJORDS

Bergen sits in a valley between seven mountains served by two cable cars that provide a magnificent panoramic view of the city. Along the harbour are the colourful wooden houses of Bryggen's Hanseatic old town (on the UNESCO World Heritage list), the earliest of which date back to 1702. International trade took place in timber warehouses. The warehouses here that are on the UNESCO World Heritage list have been carefully restored, giving great charm to the docks. The attraction of Hordaland County's capital doesn't end there, however. The relaxed lifestyle, its overall beauty, the nearby forest nearby and a cuisine that has been reinvented with gusto all add to the appeal.
