Route

Everything is 100% tailored to you
DAY 1

London to Antigua Guatemala

Your flight to Madrid leaves London early this morning and takes two-and-a-half-hours. Once you have landed, it's time to catch your connecting flight to Guatemala City. You'll be in the air for nearly 12 hours, so plenty of time to stare lovingly into the eyes of your newly betrothed. You'll land in Guatemala's capital in the early evening. Once you have landed, your private transfer will meet you for the next stage of your journey to the UNESCO World Heritage Site city of Antigua. It's an hour's drive from the airport, so you'll arrive in time for a delicious dinner, toasting the first night of your Guatemala and Belize honeymoon.

DAY 2

Adventuring in Antigua

After breakfast it's time to hit the streets on a private walking tour and let Antigua's beguiling beauty do what it does best; seduce. The captivating Spanish colonial era streets unfold under the gaze of three volcanoes, and the buildings' traditional pastel facades pay homage to the town's vibrant heritage. Wander hand-in-hand through the cobbled colonial streets, exploring markets and historic ruins with your guide who will fill you with interesting facts along the way.

If you fancy something a little more taxing, why not try climbing Cerro de la Cruz? Well worth the assent, the so-called Hill of the Cross (thanks to its prominent cross) is a fabulous viewing spot, with views back over the town and the three volcanoes that surround it. Put another way - if you hadn't already done the proposal bit, this would be the perfect spot to do it.

Meanwhile our clued-up local Concierge can make excellent recommendations for lunch and dinner, meaning you won't have a care in the world while you enjoy this incredible UNESCO World Heritage site, making lasting memories on this enchanting Guatemala and Belize honeymoon.

DAY 3

Flying to Flores

Enjoy a last leisurely breakfast in Antigua, before your private transfer to take you back to Guatemala City in time for your late morning flight to Flores. It's a short flight, heading north-east towards the border with Belize - you'll be in the air for an hour. Once you have landed your driver will meet you and transfer you to your hotel and home for the next three days. Driving to the northern shores of Lake Peten Itza, it takes around an hour to reach your lodge.

Set high above the shores of the lake, the lodge is an intimate and romantic retreat in the rainforest - a dream honeymoon spot basically, where romance is served by the bucket-load. You have the afternoon to relax and settle into your surroundings, enjoying the peaceful ambiance and listening to the endless calls of wildlife in the forest canopy surrounding the lodge.

DAYS 4 & 5

Magnificent Mayan Monuments

The next two days of your Guatemala and Belize honeymoon are yours to explore the surrounding area. Your lodge is perfectly placed for exploring Mayan monuments, forgotten by time and lost to the jungle. The area is teeming with ruins from the magnificent (but well-trodden) Tikal, to the more elusive and less visited Uaxactun. Begin the day with a private tour of Tikal's towering, steep-sided temples that push more than 150ft skyward, before making your way to the mossy-covered 2,000 year old ruins hidden in Uaxactun, where the sun bathes the ancient temple's steps as it sinks in the sky.

For a different perspective, opt for an unforgettable helicopter tour which sees you soaring above the treetops to see the numerous ruins that are scattered throughout the jungle.

DAY 6

Border Crossing into Belize

Take your time over breakfast this morning, before today's road trip to Belize. You'll be crossing the border, heading east to Belize's Cayo District which is peppered with numerous archaeological sites from the Mayan era and your next stop on this Guatemala and Belize honeymoon. It's a three-hour journey by car and you'll want to make sure that you keep an eye out for the sights as you cruise through the jungle and past villages. Your destination and home for the next two nights lies in the heart of a rainforest wonderland. Surrounded by tropical pine forests and a chorus of calls from the canopy, as well as the tumbling water that cascades over the nearby waterfall - all adding to the natural orchestra outside your window; it's a romantic hideaway like no other. Spend the rest of the day wandering around your new remote retreat and maybe indulge in a treatment at the spa, before romantic evening, dining among the trees, with a cocktail in hand.

DAYS 7 & 8

Relaxing in your Remote Retreat

The next two days of your Guatemala and Belize honeymoon are for you to fill as you wish. Endless activities are on offer here - take to the trails, mountain biking through the towering tree trunks, or pull on your hiking boots and go in search of waterfalls, lost at the end of rambling paths. You might want to go beneath the terra firma, diving into caves that lurk in the trees, whether it's on foot (complete with stylish headtorch), swimming or in a boat - explore the crystal waters that glitter in the heart of these mysterious caves.

Spend your evenings recounting the day's adventures, over dinners bathed in candlelit, or sipping cocktails on the terrace.

DAY 9

Beachfront R&R in Placencia

Today you are swapping the forested hinterland for the sandy shores of Placencia. Hop in the car for a three-and-a-half-hour's drive to Placencia, perched on the Caribbean coast. In this laidback beachfront village you'll find white shores, where impossibly blue waves roll gently over the sand. Your home for the next five nights is framed by sea to one side and jungle to the other. Glimmering on the sparkling water, the sunlight bounces off the waves and onto the glossy green leaves that fringe your lodge. Relaxation and romance? - this lodge has got you covered.

Spend the rest of the day snoozing in the shade, listening to the waves break gently on the shore, lulling you into the most wonderful soothing sleep, before you answer the call of a delicious candle-lit dinner for two.

DAYS 10 to 12

Sea and Sun in Placencia

You have the next three days to explore Belize's beautiful Caribbean coastline on your Guatemala and Belize honeymoon. One of the main treasures on this coastline is the UNESCO listed Belize Barrier Reef; which was inscribed as a World Heritage Site in 1996. Stretching nearly 190 miles in length, it is the second largest barrier reef in the world, and home to around 1400 different species - meaning it has the highest levels of marine biodiversity in the Atlantic. If you are a snorkelling and/or diving couple then both are a must while you are here. The whirling, multicoloured world is sure to leave you wanting more, the moment your feet touch dry land.

Depending on the time of year you are on honeymoon, Placencia is on many divers bucket lists thanks to the whale sharks that grace these waters between March and June, as well as myriad of other species of fish - in all shapes and sizes.

If you prefer to keep your heads above water, the area is well known for its fly fishing and the local beaches are perfect for an easy-going afternoon. Bask in the region's laid-back atmosphere, top up your tan, take many a long romantic walk on the beach and enjoy a few days of idyllic idling.

DAY 13

Homeward Bound

Sadly this is the last day of your Guatemala and Belize honeymoon. Hop on a one-hour internal flight from Placencia, heading north to Belize City. You'll arrive in time to catch your afternoon flight from Belize to Miami and then connect on to your flight home. Your flight to London leaves Miami in the evening and you'll be in the air for eight-and-a-half-hours, flying overnight.

DAY 14

Arrive Home

Arrive back in London in the morning.
