What can you expect on an Ecuador honeymoon that you won't find anywhere else?
We think that you could easily spend two or three weeks on honeymoon in Ecuador - with a few days spent cruising around the Galapagos Islands, of course - and would recommend starting the capital city, Quito (which is the second highest capital city in the world). The perfect place for some post nuptial exploration, it is positively groaning with history in the form of churches, palaces, and sculptures. We can arrange a privately guided tour of the city with the best guides in the city, tailored to what you want to see and do, so that you can soak in the city at your own pace. We would also recommend taking in some of the cities museums, including the Museo de Arte Colonial.
Within striking distance of Quito are the beautiful Ecuadorian Highlands. The drive north takes in some incredible views of the voluminous volcanoes and peaks of the Andes and involves crossing the equator at the Mitad del Mundo, which has an excellent museum - standing with one foot in each hemisphere is a unique honeymoon experience! The more adventurous newlyweds will love the adventure playground Highlands, which offers some epic peaks, and the Andean cloud forest biosphere is teaming with remarkable wildlife. History buffs will love a visit to Tulipe, home to ruins from the pre-Incan Yumbos civilisation. We recommend staying at a centuries old working farm nestled in the mountains, where honeymooners can explore to their hearts' content and enjoying some, no doubt much needed, post wedding R&R.
If you can drag yourself away from the staggering beauty of the Highlands, we heartily recommend a few days cruising the Ecuadorian Amazon and a night glamping in the rainforest. The deeply romantic boat we recommend has spacious suites which are perfect for watching the rainforest glide past from you private sitting room. A four day cruise is a thoroughly spoiling experience, which is ideal given all the hard work that goes into planning your big day, and the perfect warm up act for a honeymoon cruise in the Galapagos Islands. We know the best and most intimate boats to show you around these fascinating islands, without sacrificing creature comforts. If sea legs aren't your beloved's strong point you could stay in one of our favourite hotels on the islands, a favourite of the Prince of Wales and (the former) Brangelina. Our guides know the quietest places for spotting wild life such as purple footed boobies and Galapagos tortoises, and can even take you snorkelling with sea lion pups for a truly unforgettable honeymoon experience.
