What you can find on Madagascar family holidays that you won't find anywhere else?
First, the wacky wildlife that puts the 'mad' in Madagascar, including first and foremost the more than one hundred species of lemurs, which are - along with 90% of species - endemic to the island. The children will love ticking off the varieties as they travel around the island, especially when they spot ring-tailed lemurs like King Julien XIII, one of the funniest characters from the Madagascar movies, and Verreaux's Sifaka lemurs renowned for their funky 'dancing'. The colour-shifting chameleons will be another hit.
Next up are the weird and wonderful landscapes that play host to the island's wildlife and which are every bit as extraordinary. The children will be wowed by the enormous baobab trees - known locally as 'upside down trees' because they seem to be oddly inverted - and the tsingy landscape of razor-sharp rocks that look like rows of serrated teeth in places like Bemaraha National Park. Best of all, though, are the powder soft sandy beaches that encircle Madagascar and its satellite island idylls. We will always try to factor in some time on the beach at the end of the trip for you and the children to swim and snorkel in some of the clearest water anywhere in the world.
