When is the best time to go on a family holiday to Indonesia?

With an equatorial and tropical climate, Indonesia is perfect for exploring all year round. There are two main seasons however, the first being the dry season which falls between May and December, and the rainier months that are typically from January to April. If you're looking for sunshine and warm weather, the dry season is an ideal time for an Indonesia family holiday. You can bask in the warmth of the sun as you stroll along pristine beaches, admire the intricate details of ancient temples and indulge in exhilarating outdoor activities such as snorkelling, surfing and hiking. Peak season falls between July and August, which conveniently coincides with UK school summer holidays, if you prefer a more tranquil and cost-effective experience, you might opt to travel during the shoulder seasons of April to June (UK Easter holidays) or September to October (UK autumn half term). While the dry season typically offers clear skies and warm weather, some areas of Indonesia can experience cooler temperatures and occasional rainfall, especially in the highlands. The rainy season is also a great time to visit Lombok, Komodo National Park and Sumba, which are amazing to explore on a family holiday to Indonesia, even during the rain.
