Honeymoon Santorini

The picturesque towns of Fira and Ia cling to the faces of towering cliffs that plunge straight into the sea making for some incredible scenery. These precipitous cliffs, together with higgledy stairs and volcanic sand beaches mean that Santorini is not ideal for the little ones, making it all the more peaceful for honeymooners sans kids. But perched above said cliffs are luxurious hotels with some of the most perfectly placed infinity pools around.

From these perfectly placed infinity pools the view by day is more blues (of which we can never get enough), as the pool seemingly merges with the sea, which in turn blends into the sky. Blue bliss. As the sun dips, the spectacular Santorini sunsets take centre stage and provide the perfect backdrop for a romantic al fresco dinner.

For those that can drag their jaws from the floor and bodies from the lounger, the island offers plenty to explore, from volcanic rocks and hot springs - best explored by chartering a boat and circling the coast - to ancient Greek sites such as Akrotiri, which was covered by the ashes of a huge volcanic eruption in 1450BC.

And speaking of volcanoes, the volcanic soils of Santorini are mineral rich enabling the island to grow some top class vines and produce some of the finest wines in Greece - an essential honeymoon ingredient, we're sure you'll agree.
