Surrounded by forest covered hills and with a small church topped island sitting pretty in it's still waters, Lake Bled might be the most iconic - and photogenic - place in Slovenia. Conveniently, it also happens to be a handy gateway to another of the country's greatest natural assets, the Triglav National Park. followed by a dip in the lake to cool off in summer, when the water temperature reaches as high as 25°C. On the subject of hot water, there are several hot springs in the vicinity. Also in the vicinity (as is everything in this tiny country) is the Triglav National Park, known as the TNP, and the perfect destination for hiking and biking up, down and across a beautiful portion of the Julian Alps. Complete with dramatic peaks, gorges, meadows and forests and well-marked walking trails, Triglav National Park holidays allow you to explore this enchanting spot; one that is sadly all too rare in contemporary Europe.
