TWO SIDES TO ANDALUCIA

With a mild climate, intriguing culture and overwhelming friendliness - Andalucia is perfect for travelling with children, young or old. This itinerary first takes you to Seville, where a gentle lifestyle and infectious energy co-exist in the heart of traditional barrios. The waters of the Guadalquivir pass through the city before flowing into the ocean, bringing vital coolness on the hottest of days. There's also architecture to be admired - on the one hand the cathedral and the Giralda, originally the minaret of the ancient mosque, and on the other the Mudejar art of the Alcazar gardens and fountains. You then head to the Donana National Park, which is reminiscent of the French Camargue.
In this labyrinth, lagoons and canals intertwine and then give way to stretches of white, orange or ochre sand, dominated by spectacular cliffs - an invitation to commune with nature.

You can drive the hire car at your own pace, stopping at beautiful family-friendly accommodation - an old palace in the heart of Seville for convenience and then a secluded hotel in a thatched house at the entrance to the park. We have also included several highlights in your itinerary, to be personalised according to your wishes: an informal stroll in Seville with an expert guide, an Alcazar guided tour specially designed for families and an ice-cream tasting workshop! Not forgetting the assistance of our local Concierge to guide and advise you at any time, just a phone call away.

THINGS TO DO WITH THE FAMILY

Snacking on tapas at all times - climbing to the top of the Giralda for a better view of Seville - navigating the Plaza de Espana's canals in a small boat - going to the Carboneria to enjoy a classic cocktail and to admire the flamenco dancers - trying to identify the different species of migratory birds in the middle of the marshes - pretending to be a cowboy in the village of El Rocio, known for the great pilgrimage celebrating the Virgin Mary, which takes place every year at Pentecost - settling down in the coolness of a patio to take a nap.

Route

Everything is 100% tailored to you
DAY 1

Flight to Seville

Private transfer and accommodation for four nights in the vibrant Barrio del Arenal. The old 18th-century palace, in typical Andalusian architecture, is built around a central patio. Forged iron, Tomette tiles and Mediterranean colours are the key themes in the design, with a large rooftop terrace overlooking Seville's roofs and bell towers. In the restaurant's kitchens, the chef adds his creativity to the local cuisine and traditional recipes.

DAY 2

Seville

Included in the itinerary - Half a day with a Seville expert guide. To take the pulse of the city, there's nothing like touring it with an expert. This informal walk is suitable for the whole family, and can be tailored to suit your interests. It's an opportunity to share an experience, to discuss everyday life, to discuss society, the arts, cuisine or the history of the Andalusian capital.

Optional - A treasure hunt in the city in the footsteps of Peter the Cruel.

DAYS 3 & 4

Seville

Included in the itinerary - An Alcazar history for the children, in private. This visit is specially designed for a young audience and allows you to discover the Alcazar by following the story of the kings who occupied it. Through workshops for children and adults alike, Seville's Alcazar and its gardens will have their secrets revealed.

You are also taking part in a traditional ice cream workshop, with Antonio Parrilla, a master in his field. A true artisan, he makes ice cream from the region's natural ingredients: dried fruit, spices, aromatic herbs and liqueurs. You can discover the preparation methods before being surprised by the flavours in the tasting session.

Optional - Kayaking on the river.

DAY 5

Seville - Donana Park

Pick up the hire car and drive to Donana Park (taking around one hour). Accommodation for three nights in an authentic country house renovated as an environmentally friendly hotel. The warm rooms are spacious, there's good cuisine and the site is perfect for relaxing. At the heart of the 22-acre property, the choice of activities will please the whole family.

DAYS 6 & 7

Donana Park

From swamps to pristine beaches stretching between Mazagon and the mouth of the Guadalquivir, Donana National Park is a good choice for hiking, cycling or riding. Dunes, Mediterranean forests and marshes form an exceptional natural environment, where many species of birds stop during periods of migration.

Optional - Meet Andalusian horses with a specialist at a livestock farm or take a horse ride through the village of El Rocio.

DAY 8

Donana Park - Seville - Return flight

Drive to Seville, return your hire car and catch your flight home.

A la carte

A HUNT FOR ENIGMAS IN THE FOOTSTEPS OF PETER THE CRUEL

Seville's streets are full of stories and legends. One of the most famous took place during the reign of Peter I, King of Castille, which brought an end to the Spanish Middle Ages. Nicknamed the Cruel or the Just and raised in Seville, he was one of the most Machiavellian figures of his century, plunging his kingdom into 20 years of bloodshed and disorder before falling in turn, under the knife of his half-brother. Like a real detective, thanks to numerous clues along the way, you can follow in the footsteps of this mysterious character.

Optional

KAYAKING ALONG THE GUADALQUIVIR

The Guadalquivir is one of the largest Andalusian rivers and is a valuable source of water for much of the region when it is parched in summer. In Seville, its waters host many sporting events and competitions all year round. Kayaking is a way of seeing the city from a different angle and enjoying panoramas of the Triana district, the city's bridges, San Telmo's Palace, the Giralda, the Cathedral and the Santa Ana Sailors' Church.

Optional

MEET ANDALUSIAN HORSES

Rafael Puerto, a bullfighting expert famous among bull and horse breeders, opens the gates of his family farms to introduce visitors to the history of purebred horses, a symbol of Andalusian culture.

Optional

HORSE RIDING AND EXPLORATION OF THE VILLAGE OF DEL ROCIO

Located in the provinces of Huelva, Donana National Park is one of the largest marshes on the European continent. Riding among the dunes on one of the most beautiful beaches gives you the opportunity to appreciate the diversity of its flora and fauna. Near the park, the village of El Rocio is known for the largest pilgrimage in Spain and its lively nightlife. Here there's talking, drinking and dancing, then it's off on horseback again through bare earth streets, just like the Wild West.
