Three miles wide, 240ft high, and 19 miles long: those are the palatial proportions of the most famous glacier in the world. The Perito Moreno glacier can be found in the Los Glaciares National Park in southern Argentina, descending straight from the unfathomably vast Southern Patagonian Ice Field, in a wild frozen torrent. It’s an amazing sight to watch giant blocks of ice rupture and break away from this towering wall of ice to crash with a mighty roar into the turquoise waters of Lago Argentino below. Even better, put on crampons and trek over the ruckled surface of the glacier, or embark on a boat trip to see it up close from below.
No matter how you see this gorgeous glacier, we're willing to bet that your Perito Moreno glacier holidays will be one of the highlights on any trip to Argentina.
