With an average of 326-plus days of sunshine a year, Cyprus is a destination where wet weather 'Plan B's' shouldn't concern parents. That the island is also home to a selection of the finest family-friendly hotels and fun (and educational) things to do makes this even more of a winner of a destination.
Route
Fly to Cyprus
Your direct flight to Paphos leaves London in the late morning and takes four-and-a-half-hours. We will have provided any children between the ages of three and ten years old with a personalised pack designed by children's party people Sharky & George and full of fun and informative stuff to keep them entertained on the flight, at the airport and on the transfer.
On arrival into Paphos in the evening you will pick up your hire car, pre-booked by us with all the relevant car seats. You should be travelling relatively (emphasis on relatively) light because you'll be staying in one of two sister properties with an ingenious 'Baby Go Lightly' service. This means that the hotel(s) provide parents with young children with the full spread of crucial baby and infant kit, from high chairs to baby lotion and everything in between so you don't have to pack the kitchen sink. We'll pre-book what you need in advance and it will all be there on your arrival this evening.
Beach Bliss & More
It's pretty difficult to find a hotel that works perfectly for families without being intrinsically adult-unfriendly, but we think the Anassa and the Almyra manage to achieve this near-impossible feat, so for the next days you and the family can relax and enjoy some of those 326 days of sunshine that Cyprus is renowned for. While mum and dad enjoy the pampering spa and delicious cuisine, the children will be royally entertained in the various age groups kids' clubs. The Globetrotters club caters for four-month olds and up, while the Adventurers club for three and four-year olds has junior sports camps and Cypriot cake baking. For older children, the Explorers (five to seven) and Pioneers (eight to 11) teams offer a well thought out and age-specific range of activities from sports to cultural immersions.
On the subject of culture, we always aim to include an educational angle, so we can arrange a family visit to the stunning Roman mosaics in the House of Dionysos, a UNESCO World Heritage Site in nearby Paphos Town, or bicycling trips in the surrounding countryside. A lovely day trip to consider is a trip to the Troodos Mountains, where the family can hike along well-marked walking trails chosen not to be too strenuous for little ones.
Homeward Bound
Sadly it's time to head home, but the good news is that the children can enjoy one last morning splashing around in the pool or on the beach before heading back to Paphos Airport. Drop off the hire car before your afternoon flight which will take just under five hours and arrive back in the UK in the evening.
