Route
Fly to Cyprus
Your direct flight to Paphos leaves London in the late morning and takes four-and-a-half-hours. On arrival into Paphos in the early evening you will pick up your hire car. Depending on which hotel you are staying at, the drive will take between 20 minutes and an hour, so you'll definitely be there in time for a first supper either at the hotel, or at a restaurant we recommend in our detailed Dossier.
Down Time
The temptation to make the most of those 326 days of sunshine will be strong, so you can down tools completely and while away days at the hotel, lounging by the pool and eating high quality Cypriot food there or in the restaurants we recommend, but we can also arrange trips to learn more about the fascinating heritage, from a private guided trip to see the Roman mosaics in the House of Dionysos, a UNESCO World Heritage Site in Paphos Town, or bicycling trips in the surrounding countryside.
Head to the Hills
This morning, you will leave Paphos and the coast behind and wind your way up into the Troodos Mountains, admiring the beautiful scenery. The journey to your next hotel should take around two hours in total, but we recommend making a stop en route to walk the well-marked four-mile round trip trail to the lovely Caledonia Waterfalls. The trail is mostly through forests, so you'll be in the shade for the majority of the trip and can then enjoy a well-earned lunch in Platres before heading on to your final destination. When you arrive at the hotel, you will have the rest of the afternoon to relax.
Mountain Life
Spend a lovely couple of days exploring the Troodos Mountains, hiking the many trails, mountain biking or visiting local monasteries, churches and museums full of priceless Byzantine artworks. When you're walking, keep half an eye out for the Cyprus mouflon with its wonderfully curled horns! When not exploring, you can relax at the hotel and enjoy pampering spa treatments.
Homeward Bound
It's time to head home, but the good news is that you might have an evening flight, so you can spend one last morning soaking up the silence and purity of the mountains before a long, lazy lunch and drive the two hours back to Paphos Airport. Your flight leaves in the evening and arrives back in the UK five hours later in the late evening.
