Valladolid holidays are a journey in the footsteps of the de Montejo conquistadors. This intriguing city may be small in size but more than makes up for it in incredible historical sites such as the 16th century Convent of San Bernardino of Sienas, or the baroque-style San Gervasio Cathedral. However, despite all of this obvious colonial influence - especially in the numerous colourful, pastel houses - the important indigenous Mexican culture is still present in the nearby archaeological site of Chichen Itza. There’s also the Cenote Zaci with its turquoise waters and stalactite-filled cave.
