Zimbabwe is the heart of Southern Africa and Victoria Falls are undoubtedly at the heart of Zimbabwe. The thundering waters crash into the Zambezi River and through the narrow gorges of Batoka. As a UNESCO recognised site, the falls are world-renowned and are a must when exploring this African gem. But there is more to discover in the country too; Zimbabwe is jam-packed with a huge number of exciting and adrenaline-filled adventures. Spend time in some of the country’s nature reserves and national parks, including Hwange, Matusadona and Lake Kariba (which was once the largest artificial lake in the world and is home to Nile crocodiles and hippopotamuses). While on safari, you will be accompanied by a specialist wildlife guide who will help you to spot and observe the famous Big Five (lions, leopards, elephants, rhinos and buffalos).
For something a little more off the beaten track, enjoy a tour of a local village where you will be welcomed with open arms by local people or even head to the Great Zimbabwe National Monument where you can roam the ruins of a medieval city and take a dive into the country’s troubled past. If your party includes geology and landscape lovers, a stop at Matobo National Park is a must to see its spectacular, gravity-defying rockscapes and ancient rock art sites.
